Yahoo 360 beta announced

Yahoo 360 beta is a combination of new and classic services and tools. Three months after MSN launched MSN Spaces to compete in the blogging sector with Google, which owns Blogger for sometime now, Yahoo is sliding even more into online social networking.
The new services’ tagline is “keep connected with your friends and family” and the following features, as described by Yahoo are available:

  • Blogs to share thoughts, ideas…
  • Mobile text messaging featuring blogging from your mobile to your blog
  • Photos sharing (Yahoo bought Canadian online media sharing service Flickr recently)
  • Internet radio to let friends and family listen to what you like
  • ..More

Some interesting features are the ability to see, as an example, how your friends have rate a movie and to send out blasting messages to all of your contacts.
It’s about connecting people, creating communities on the internet is a powerful branding tool. The company spokesperson specified that Yahoo will focus on gathering people first; no advertising plan should be added to the project at this point. No doubt that the actual 160 million of Yahoo users are another goldmine in terms of ads revenue for the Sunnyvale worldwide internet traffic leader and advertising plans should be coming out soon.
